Suppresses dialog if it doesn't conform to his ultraconservative world view. This senior citizen is toxic to education.
His condescension comes across in all the material. His rating system and expectations are not in line with what is reasonable for a first year course. A stickler for grammar beyond what is necessary within a poli sci course - yet his reader is rife with grammatical errors. Writing voice is absolutely abysmal for teaching.
Professor Drysdale is an incredibly tough marker, however you will leave the course a better essay writer. He weighs his grading heavily on your writing skills. If you feel as though you are not a strong writer, do not take his class. A lot of reading required and no hand holding throughout the course. A lot of detailed feedback on essays.
Reids a tough marker, but hes reasonable and its an academic course so expect it. I've taken 2 of his classes, never received lower than an 82%. His feed back on papers is very comprehensive. Lots of assigned reading, but its not all necessary - Utilize the textbook first and foremost. No online weekly discussions required, which I prefer and love.
Took as a PR course for an OHS certificate. Absolutely brutal amount of readings of which no one has time to do when they are over 50 pages a week. Not to mention, they are not the professor's own work. Over 95% of the readings are journals from other authors. Very dry, essays are okay. Currently terrified for the final exam.
Do Not take this class online if you wish to fail (not an easy class) or a hard-earned B. Did also mention there are a lot of readings ALOT!
Knowledgeable professor. His own writing is very poor. The accompanying narrative reader has terrible grammar and run-on sentences, etc. Has no business grading others on writing skills. Reading volume is too high. Did not make a strong effort to create his own content - regurgitated textbook to the point of using questions as essays.
3 essays (60%) 1 cumulative exam (40%).Level of analysis expected from 1000 word essays is silly. The amount of knowledge you're expected to digest for the final is beyond unreasonable. A mid-term would be beneficial. I did very well on the essays, almost positive I will fail the final. Too much for a 1st yr course. Stick with grad-level teaching.
hard marker .. 3 different books to read for this course alone... 3 essays + final exam... a lot of work
Hard class and tough marker. Hard work is the only way to a good grade.
