If you show up and do the assigned work you should be able to pull off an A. The content can be dry, however, the mandatory reading, lecture, and discussion for the week pretty much state the same thing over again. While the content is redundant at times, Inwood is well versed, drives the point home effectively, and is a fair prof overall.
He's a fair professor. If you attend his lectures (an absolute must for understanding), and read his discussion posts you have everything you need for an A- to A in his class. He's an interesting lecturer and knows his subject inside out. My only gripe is he tends to talk for 3 hours straight (no breaks) and doesn't give feedback unless asked.
Possibly the worst professor I've ever had as a third year student. Class average was a 60, says a lot about the prof.
No grading criteria so marks are random. Everyone got the same comment of missing a section in their paper when his instructions didn't mention it. Loves to get student opinion to point out flaws in their thinking. Does he know a lot? yes. Is it useful to you? Perhaps during trivia night. Assigns 2 new textbooks after term began, total 7 textbooks
These ratings are overly harsh, imo. I found Prof Inwood to be personable, knowledgeable, and ready to help. There's tests instead of papers, and the "discussion questions" make great study guides. He's definitely one of ryerson's better profs.
Unrealistic discussion post expectations (2 discussion post every week + respond to another student discussion for each post), and inconsistent grading criteria from the professor versus Ta. The prof doesn't want direct cut and paste from the textbook but when I did that I failed the exam. Whereas when I did cut and paste for previous tests I aced.
This is one of the most content-heavy courses I've ever taken man - in addition to lectures and readings, he posts pages and pages of extra notes on the discussion board. He's also a strange marker - I got 20% less on the 2nd test than the 1st but felt the quality of my answers were comparable? Super nice guy but overwhelming/confusing content...
The hardest course ever. I'll remember it in therapy.
The marking is not great, i got marks off for some things i stated in my answers
He is a pretty tough marker. Do with that as u will
