I learnt a lot in this class and there are lots of papers, but they weren't super stressful, Everything in this class is very interesting and you learn a whole range of different topics. I wish we had participation marks or discussion posts. My grade was good though, you just need to focus, and take notes, but nothing to memorize.
Professor Orlova is super sweet and caring, and her lectures are very straightforward but informative. All assignments are take home. For all assignments, she really wants you to incorporate many readings and concepts discussed in class, but as long as you do that you're fine.
Even though slides that she presents are very terribly boring but she's a really good professor and teaches really well. And a pretty fair marker too, so far I've gotten all A's on my written assignments, I'd take her again for sure.
She was really knowledgable , however, it's sometimes hard to catch what she's saying. And her marking is relatively difficult
I love her. She's very intelligent and caring. She's a bit of a hard marker, you have to meet her out of class to really learn what she expects in assignments. Her lectures can be extremely boring, but class discussions are always informing. Worth taking, you actually learn
A midterm exam, media analysis, n final exam. All exams are take-home. For exams, you need to take very detailed notes in class to reiterate her lectures + bridge important concepts from readings. Getting an A- hurts my GPA as she marks very hard, so I won't be retaking her. Marking is kinda unpredictable, but easy to get 75+. Does NOT boost grades
This class was okay. She's nice but you have to put in the work. Her lectures can be confusing sometimes so just do the readings and you will be fine. Make sure to use references from the readings and lectures because she likes that.
Speaks so fast with a heavy Russian accent during lecture making her incomprehensible. Does not accommodate students extensions needs and is very self-centred. Avoid this professor at all costs, she explains the essays can be done in an ambiguous way but then has a secret criteria of what certain points she expects.
You need to take notes during lecture to do well, but I think the content was interesting and she wasn't too boring. Marked very fairly and assignments + exam instructions were good.
One of the worst professors. Her instructions make no sense for assignments. PowerPoints have 7 slides maximum. Possibly the most uncaring professor I've had yet. I told her I was sick and throwing up before the paper was due and needed a one day extension, she proceeded to say she was giving me a late penalty regardless of the fact that I was ill.
