Overall, she is a very good professor and very knowledgeable about this topic. Nevertheless, she is a very tough grader and marks pretty unfairly. A recommendation I have is to read the readings and do not skip, because they are quite important to the discussions. She also knows when you use AI for online discussions or assignments, so be mindful!
The workload is very heavy for an online course. I've never had a teacher mark this hard for any of my online courses. The feedback of what the expectations were compared to the mark given does seems inconsistent.
I had a good experience with her this past semester. The course was pretty straightforward, three assessments that comprised of two essays and a final. I did worse on the final than I was expecting, but all in all a nice person a solid professor.
This is the first Prof that I have ever given a 1 rating too. Her marking is so inconsistent and random, and she marks stupidly difficult. This is the worst mark I've received in the last four semesters. The class is also determined off of three assessments (two essays and a final). In conclusion, avoid her like the plague.
Amazing Professor! The course module is one of the best that Ive ever had. I feel that Ive learnt a lot in a short time. Prof. Arundel is very knowledgeable, respectful and considerate. I had some personal study issues, and she has tried her best to help and accommodate me. I am very grateful to have such an excellent professor as Prof. Arundel.
Caryl is an amazing prof for Local Government. Cares about the subject and keeps material relevant for students. I enjoyed this course overall. She gives very clear grading criteria and feedback when returning assignments. As long as you participate and stay up to date, you will do great!
Too much work for an online class. She will grade you for weekly participation and providing input into discussions - akin to forcing someone to participate during lectures. I'm forced to read and comment on REPETITIVE, REDUNDANT input from students each week. Distance ed students are expected to take an exam in person.
She is a great prof. Clearly knows her stuff. I had her for an online course and she was extremely helpful, some people said that her marking was a bit tough I actually found shes was an easy marker , maybe because it was a summer course I dont know, but her exam was simple, assignments were straight forward. Would take her class again :)
Stay far far away from her class! There is a tremendous amount of workload for an online course and it doesn't help that she is a tough marker with very unclear expectations.
It was an alright course, make sure you do your reading and participate in the decisions. As for the marking, it was alright. The instructor was indeed, very helpful, when it came to answering question.
