Such a caring prof. He really wants his students to do well and goes out of his way for extra help lessons. Great prof
Ratings are definitely overrated. I'll give him one thing, his questions are relatively straightforward, but you better be ready to teach yourself because this professor gets confused himself. When you ask him to explain something that's on the board, he gets pissed off, but according to him at the beginning of the year we should ask questions.
Steve is a great professor, really dedicates a lot of his time to ensuring his students do well. Comes in to teach extra help sessions on the weekend during his own time, one before midterm & one before final, spent a lot of time explaining to us study habits and how to stay calm during the exam, very kind and reassuring
Amazing prof! I took both FIN 300 and FIN 401 with Steve and I've waited to take FIN 501 with him. Math wasn't my strong suit, but the way Steve teaches really helped. He gives lots of practice questions, so be sure to do them ALL!
hard course. Read chapter before lecture. Attend class and write everything down. After class, do all textbook questions for chapter you read and all handout questions from lecture. Online weekly lyrnx tests. Try to get 100% on each lyrnx. practice questions. For midterm, he posts practice tests. DO ALL QUESTIONS. He reuses these on midterm!
Steve complicate things, i had a hard time understanding him , he wastes time by engaging into random conversation . i studied from Prof Toffrin notes since Steven lectures were no help . He posts marks very late,. He barely respond to emails. if you ask him question at the end of the class he usually tells you that he is tired and email him.
Steve definitely knows his stuff and goes through concepts and problems thoroughly. He's receptive to questions and participation. However he has trouble explaining some of the more difficult problems which had a direct impact on tests and exams. He also struggled with mental math which I found ironic for a finance teacher. Decent prof overall.
i took FIN 300 with steve and thought he was a good teacher, but then i started realizing how many mistakes he kept during the lecture and couldn't figure out how to do certain practise questions when going through the exam review. I would not recommend taking him because this course is very diffuclt and having a good prof helps. Dont take him .
Was a tough one for me as it was very math ( algebra ) heavy, lots of reworking equations in long form. Very speedy on the math but will slow down and explain with no problems. Calculator saved my butt a good bit once I mastered some financial calculations. Steve was great in class to help and did extra classes pre exam. Has my vote for sure
