Professor Graeme MacDermid is an exceptional instructor who genuinely cares about his students' learning and success. His teaching style is engaging and transparent; He creates an open and supportive classroom environment. Graeme is one of the best profs I've had at TMU/The Chang School. More Profs should learn from his teaching style.
He is a very slow teacher and grader; he prepares so much content to share but he tends to get off topic half-way through. He takes very long to grade papers and his teaching style is beyond boring, it makes it very difficult to focus on what he is teaching.
Professor Graeme MacDermid is a professor who believes in having healthy debates with his students and does not take it personal if you challenge him, even if you are wrong. Professor MacDermid is an amazing researcher, who is extremely brilliant and knows quite a bit just about everything. If you are willing to learn, you need to be in his class.
One of the slowest graders at TMU. Currently taking MHR 405. The drop date for the course is 5 days away and he still hasn't marked the midterm (been more than two weeks). He said he used the wrong answer key for the M/C so has to redo that marking. He said he will upload short answers grades after walking his dog and didn't. Just down right lied.
As many other students have mentioned already, he is a very slow marker. He doesn't grade or give feedback to assignments in a timely manner for us to learn and incorporate into our next assignments which can potentially help improve our grades. Other MHR courses I have taken online, professors/TA mark and deliver assignments within a few days.
SLOW marker, lectures are mandatory for attendance marks, does not reply to emails often. He "forgot" about our section and our papers that we handed in 2months ago. I am waiting for this class marks so I can select my next term classes. Can't improve on weekly term papers because feedback from past assignments not given back soon enough.
Currently taking MHR405 for summer course. It is now the final week and he has yet to grade and return our papers from the last 7 weeks. How are we supposed to improve on our weekly papers if we are still waiting for feedback from a previous one. At least allow resubmissions if you are going to take a month+ to grade papers. Lectures mandatory too.
He failed to give our marks for milestone reports until the end of the semester so the feedback he gave us had no impact as the milestone papers had to be submitted before he gave any of the previous marks back. Very late with marking and takes a long time to get in contact with as well as very unclear in emails.
Graeme failed to get marks back throughout the semester. After many emails he finally got one back. He doesn't care about the content, and often gets so caught up in his own examples that he runs out of time.
I had him during the summer and he was really gold. There were 4 weekly assignments and no midterm or test, instead there were 'milestone' projects. He was really understanding about extending deadlines and even having a little leeway for first few weeks. Theres a one hour weekly lecture that you have to attend.
