Kenn is a big fan of a "my way or the highway" mentality. When he teaches or asks questions, he'll never say you're correct unless you say or write exactly what he's thinking. His lectures are honestly fine, not like Warwick level, but it's just an overall boring class if you're someone who wants to do more hands-on, production-based courses.
Lectures can certainly be long and boring. Grades easily. Textbook readings required, (which is standard for university!!) Do the readings, take notes, you will do well on assignments and tests! Tests are very easy!
This prof has the worst lectures ever. His lectures are easily 100+ slides each and he teaches out of order which makes it that much harder to learn. His exams are written awfully so you will almost always get below 60%. HOWEVER he is a generous grader for essays and group projects! they totally saved my grade
Boy! I thought Henry Warwick was bad, but Kenn Scott may actually take the cake for worst prof. The whole course is based off of a textbook that HE WROTE (and makes you buy), the lectures are long/ unnecessary. The worst part of this class was the tests. Not only does he try and trick you with wordplay, but the questions are all ridiculously hard.
If there was an option to rate him a 0 I would. His lectures put me to sleep and when I do pay attention he's all over the place with his slides. The course includes a textbook that he made and is profiting off of his students. Luckily people won't have to worry about this course next year because it's being removed from the media program.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES.
His lectures are dreadful. His lectures are all over the place and he's constantly jumping around (he goes from the 1960s to 1940s to 1970s, for example). Good luck keeping up, and have fun reading 30+ pages of a textbook HE wrote every week. This class was mandatory for me, but if it isn't for you, DON'T. TAKE. IT.
Mind-numbingly boring. I once fell asleep in his lecture and woke up to him still on the same slide. The material is interesting but all he does is read off slides and then repeat himself tenfold for slides that are basic information, then moving on and skimming through the slides with actual important info. Mandatory group assignment worth 25%.
People give Professor Scott a bad rap, but I've had him twice now and his classes have been my favourite. I hear he's not great for RTA212, but he's great for writing classes. The only downside is that he can take a very long time to get marks and feedback back, but when he does, the feedback is always really helpful.
Just read the textbook and take notes at lectures, easy 80% or above if you do that. Lectures are very interesting, and he makes sure people are silent when he is talking. The 2 assigments are fun too!
