Wants his students to genuinely learn and understand chinese and chinese culture and grades fairly too. But BEWARE its a 3 hour online lecture without any breaks.
Very good professor. Ignore all the bad comments. This is the easiest professor and the most considerate one.
Classes are odd but good and he is very easy to reach. He extended many due dates for the class and for me was a pretty nice marker. Not my case but If you know any Chinese (including canto) beforehand and he thinks you should be in a higher level, he will mark you harder. Course itself is fast and lots of work esp if you have a full course load.
Has a lot of knowledge and passion for Chinese and is also very generous with deadlines and marking projects. His lectures can get very off-topic and boring. He might make comments which err on the side of racism.
A very considerate and kind professor. But can the D2L please be organized better so it's easier to know all due dates and stuff?
You're better off self-studying from resources, I didn't learn much from him due to the lack of good explanations. Marking's inconsistent, was hard on writing hw if there was just 1 criticism but was lenient with oral ones. Easy quizzes, made 1 open-book. Classes not engaging either, he mostly just rambles. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Very good professor but please can you organize the D2L better? It is very confusing and unstructured. Like for everything that's due maybe add due dates on D2L and clear assignment sheets.
You can tell that he's super passionate about CHN/TWN culture and history. I took 101 with him and he was really responsive to emails responding minutes later. For course success, you'll need to genuinely do the work and ASK him what to improve on. He's super particular abt how u write in the boxes, and can say some outtapocket things lol.
