Our class averages for the 2 midterms were 57% and 62%, which is pretty bad. I went to every class, paid attention and took good notes, and memorized the notes entirely before each exam and still struggled on the tests. This class is WAY more difficult than it needs to be, I ended up with an A- after studying more than I ever had for an exam.
Class not worth attending. Study the textbook. Midterms medians did not pass 70%. Final exam median was 75%. No bell curve given.
A good professor. His midterms and tests are based on a lot of lecture material, so make sure to attend. He will not post everything he covers online, and you must read the textbook in order to do well. He answers questions in class and uses real-world examples. The lectures itself are quite boring and he will generally require class participation.
The fact that he's probably one of the better MHR405 profs is kinda sad. But aside from that he was okay. His tests and exams are straight from the textbook and it only covers topics that he discusses in class and on his slides. Most people found the class hard but it's really not if you're dedicated to reading the textbook thoroughly.
I think that he is a great prof. he knows how to teach and keeps people engaged throughout the entire 3h lecture even though some topics may sound boring. you need to read the textbook for more detail for the tests otherwise you won't do well. make sure to take notes at all times, even when he's speaking or playing a video cause it'll be tested.
He was alright and his lectures were pretty useless but is kinda funny at times. Only thing useful about his lectures was that he told us some of the topic omissions if there were any for that chapter. Course is somewhat easy as long as you read the textbook. His tests are basically all textbook and knowing the causes and effects.
You will like his class as long as you pay attention. He will pick on you if your on your phone or talking to someone. Going to his class will be helpful cus it just makes more sense of what is going on and he gives really good examples too. Also, what you learn in class would be kinda helpful for your midterms.
Doesnt do much in class except briefly go over notes and shows a few videos. cant do well without a textbook.
Professor Pike is a solid choice for MHR733. Study the slides and follow his clear guidelines, you will get an A. If you are aiming for an A+ be sure to know additional facts from textbook about the topics discussed in class. Tried to get extra 1% to finish with an A+ but he is not type to help students out in that way.733 was an enjoyable course
His grading criteria is vague and lacks clarity, often hard to know what he expects as his feedback is contradicting. Big component of your grade comes from the group project for the term so be sure to work towards your project and presentation throughout the semester. Midterm and Final are fair just focus on topics in lecture slides.
