I have taken 3 classes with Professor Levin and have nothing but good things to say. He expects his students to be on-time, present, and to have read the material. If you do those things, you can't go wrong. The exam content is always on his slides, and nothing in his assignments/exams are trying to trick you. He is very knowledgeable and caring.
LAW 722 is graded entirely by your TA, so your experience will vary. There is a lot of work in this class, requiring frequent submissions. That being said, this course concept is extremely interesting. Guest speakers and weekly essays made the class challenging, yet still interesting. Levin could work on ensuring consistency between TA's.
Fair and knowledge. Don't be afraid to approach!!
8 Essays (yes you read that right), mandatory attendance, weekly question submissions and an individual presentation. This course is challenging, and quite time-consuming considering there are two things you have to submit a week and one of those is an essay. TAs give unclear grading criteria and marking is brutal.
During my JD program I've taken 2 classes with him, torts in 1L and privacy in 2L. As a 1L I found him intimidating, but when I met him in person he was very chill. But the real star of the show is his co-teacher/sidekick Bruce Blain! He's hilarious, kind, and very inspirational. They are a great duo :)
Him as a prof was a beauty, he was knowledgable, engaging and easy to follow even considering an accent. Thought the TA's marking the tests was a HUGE bummer, and guest speakers were not useful at all.
Hes an ok guy. His tests for this course were tricky in some ways and kinda hard. I hate the fact that TAs mark the tests. No final exam, just a final paper.
Avner Levin is a knowledgeable professor, however, the course consists of speaker sessions where you never hear your professor talking, only grading. He is a kind and nice professor however very tough marker. The course is very interesting and easy (but not if you take it with him). The feedback is not relevant to the work you have done.
Professor Levin is very knowledgable and tries to make the course as interesting as possible. His lectures are good and informative. He's always open to answering questions and genuinely wants to make sure we understand the material. Really nice and helpful guy.
Dr. Levin is a very straightforward professor who explains the concepts taught very well. He is always open to answering questions and he also posts additional power points online. The midterm was closed book and the final was open book, both were fair but beware of questions meant to trick you. Be sure to attend every lecture and tutorial.
