Neil is a nice guy and his lectures are always very intriguing! However he makes you work for your grades which is fair considering this is a 4th year course. His TA Jym is a tough marker compared to the rest of the BUS800 profs. Overall, just listen to their feedback and expectations and you should be fine.
Professor Neil himself is a good guy. We get to interact during lectures and he is receptive to humour and reciprocates it. His GA on the other hand, Jym, who grades everything, is a different story. He seems to contradict the prof in his expectations to the point where its awkward sometimes and makes it hard to decipher what the expectations are.
The course is workload heavy and not super exciting. However, he made it manageable and is very easygoing. His TA is a hard marker, but you can still have a good grade if you try and listen to the requirements.
Extremely frustrating course. His TA is terrible. Not sure what else to say. Will not take this prof again.
Neil was a very good professor. Many people complain about Jym the TA and rightfully so as he is a hard and very specific marker and his methods don't reflect Neil's expectations. However, the participation marks are easy to get and he bumped up everyone a whole grade point (if you were B to B+ or B+ to A-) at the end of the semester. Over all okay
Good prof, likes to go into proper detail about the topics he is teaching which is great and he is nice I guess. Unfortunately the biggest downfall would be his TA, Jym. He is rude and let me save you some time and tell you to not bother asking him for help, you won't get any. Would've recommended this prof if it weren't for his TA.
Neil is pretty easy going but he doesn't really teach and just shows you videos and reads the textbook slides. He honestly doesn't mark hard and his midterms were pretty easy. The bad thing about going with Neil as your prof is that Jym will be your TA and it's impossible to impress him on the assignments and Jym's marks are worth a lot of ur grade
All he does is show you videos. If you need to email him or want office hours, you have to send him your personal phone number and receive a call. He will not reply to email. Marking is all over the place, he doesn't want to give anyone a good mark and his TA and him don't talk. He says one thing is good but the TA marks it wrong.
I learned nothing in this course. His TA, Jim, is probably the worst at Ryerson. They do not agree on what expectations are and has sass to the max. TA marks incredibly hard (considering Im an A/B student), and your mark is solely based on TA expectations. Try to avoid. Worst mark Ive gotten within my 4 years at Ryerson.
Out of all the BUS800 comments i've heard from other students, it seems that Neill was probably the best prof for this course. Attendance is mandatory as there is a participation mark which you get from just showing up. He mostly just speaks about the group projects in class. Study for the midterm- solely based on textbook.
