It's been three years since I took the course with her and I legitimately still think about how much I dreaded everything about that class. Very boring too. No, just no.
June is wonderful, but her marking is strange. She will provide a rubric but expect you to include things within your essay that were not initially expected of you, which makes you lose marks. If you're hoping to get an A in her class, make sure to go above and beyond for each assignment and try your best to read her mind lol
June is academically rigorous and brings a refreshing, critical perspective that stands out from other instructors. Her courses suit students interested in research or grad school, as she expects writing at a master's level. For those entering immediate practice, her standards can feel intense—but she's by far the best prof I've had.
June Yee understands that you're a first-year but also does not care. Her lectures are very content heavy and she based the final exam primarily on the readings so make sure you get a general understanding. She talks a lot but is pretty nice if you get to know her. She is very passionate about Social Work especially Whiteness and White Supremacy.
The course is the same with all the profs: 20% easy writing test, 40% 10 page paper, and 40% specific and difficult mc exam. I left lectures early because she used difficult and sophisticated language to show off and because the exam was based on just the readings. If you get stuck with her, focus on just the required readings. Do not recommend.
I enjoyed Professor Yee's class. There's some heavy reading, a bit of a tough grader, but she seems passionate about what she teaches. I felt like she was genuinely interested in hearing students' thoughts during class.
June yee has like 3 assignments and 2 of them are for 40% and given at the hardest times in school when everyones busy with exams and midterms. Who would have time to write a 10 page essay during exams??? Not to mention she marks very precisely and its 40%. The exam was so hard it was so specific. Honestly just pray to pass😭 good luck
The way she taught was so confusing cause she would use such sophisticated language and terms while going around in circles over small things not even considering this was a first-year class. I was stressed 24/7 and literally don't think I learned anything. Really boring lectures too.
Navigating June's grading at TMU proves challenging due to inconsistent criteria and overly critical evaluation compared to other professors. She seems entrenched in her own viewpoints and resistant to alternative perspectives. To manage, prioritize thorough engagement with course materials and pray for passing it.
