Professor Tohill is an excellent professor. I'm in my 3rd year of PAG, and CHST711 is the most well-organized online course I have taken so far. If you put in the work, he recognizes it and rewards the effort fairly. He cares about students who make a genuine effort. I learned a lot and would definitely recommend taking a course with him.
Dr. Tohill is an amazing professor as well as an amazing person. He is extremely reasonable with assignments and he is very sympathetic when it comes to needing extensions for personal reasons. I found the lectures somewhat unengaging as it seems like he reads from the textbook the whole time. However, overall, I enjoyed HST110 with him very much!
Very nice, understanding, and accommodating professor, but a hard marker. A lot of quizzes to do. Once you have the textbook, it helps with the lectures and the quizzes.
Really solid professor but isn't an easy grade. Took this course as an elective and found I did more readings for this than my other courses. His lectures are very clear and organized. He his not an easy grader especially for the paper worth 30 percent but gave really good feedback. I Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an easy A otherwise 👍
Dr. Tohill is a great professor but a very difficult marker. He is very particular with his grading, however you will get a good mark if you put lots of detail into your written work. His exams are a mixture of multiple choice and written answers with some extra multiple choice questions to bump your grade!
He was put in a weird situation as he had to take over our class about halfway through the semester, he's extremely lenient with deadlines which I liked. He also tells you exactly what's on the final, the grading was tough in my opinion, and lectures were quite boring but material in this particular course was interesting.
I took this class as an elective and I've done more work for this than all of my other classes combined. So many readings and so many contributions that you're supposed to do weekly. There's also a research essay and 2 exams which are all insanely hard. The prof is also a super tough grader and it really impacts your GPA. :/
Very kind and understanding guy. If you show up to class and participate you're almost guaranteed at least an A-.
Professor Tohill is really nice but class is not a easy mark but he gives you really good feedback so a good grade is not impossible
Truly an awesome professor. Genuinely cares about his students and is extremely flexible when it comes to deadlines. The class is quite a bit of work, but if you like history, you'll enjoy it.
