John Hicks

Professor Hicks is an engaging professor and is always open to any questions whether its in class or during his office hours. It helps to take a look at your midterms with him as he is able to tell you which topics you need to focus on in order to do better in the course before the final exam.

Definitely knows to to effectively teach chem and makes it easy to understand. He wants his students to do well and appreciates if you show up and actually pay attention during lectures. His midterms and final were straightforward, he doesn't try to make anything over complicated. As long as you study and work for your grade you'll do fine.

He's a really good prof and tries to make chemistry easy to understand. He wants his students to do well and will answer your questions. The tests are medium, but not easy, not bad.

So this class was okay, he is very sensitive about his lectures, so try to not go on your phone, or to make it obvious you are not paying attention to him because he will call you out.

Probably the best science professor at Ryerson. Would highly recommend taking his class. Thank you for making me love chemistry !

Really caring prof that seems to really enjoy what he does and is very passionate about chemistry. Tests are very fair and not hard to do well in if you study. He goes through material kind of fast but if there are problems he has no issue with stopping and going over things. Really enjoyed his class

He was a really great prof. He knows his science and can explain it in an understandable way. He sometimes goes into the history of how concepts were developed and it wasn't in our notes. But the notes are very good and he gives tips on what is important on the tests. Really nice man.

Genuinely a great person. Very passionate about chemistry and probably has every chemistry books memorized. Always willing to help but the course can be slightly challenging at times. Awesome prof overall

Great teacher. His teaching style is really good because he posts slides on D2L that you have to print off and fill in class which helps you learn the material. Overall he was really nice when having to ask questions and his tests aren't hard at all. I would definitely take his class again.

Cool and funny prof. He likes to talk about history sometimes. Skipped class alot but still got a decent grade by reading off the textbook and doing the chapter problems.
