If you dont agree with his personal opinion he gives you a bad grade. Marks harsh on things he can't even do himself and gives advice during crits that is unknowledgable. Will change his opinion on your work a week before its due and you wont see him during studio. I concur, DAS make him retire already.
Literally said "design concept does not matter" in an intention and expression design studio...
If you're ever in his section, I pray you pass. He's the oldest and most unknowledgeable on actually designing a building, it's sad. Even the other studio profs know he knows nothing... Barely gives any good feedback, with many students barely seeing him during studio hours, making them way behind compared to everyone else... DAS make him retire
- lectures introduced complicated and fascinating ideas in a clear manner - attention is definitely necessary in class to understand the material, but if focused it will make sense - academic writing is a major focus of the course and term assignment (a research paper) is highly structured - class is extremely interesting + prof is engaging!
Great proff, interesting teaching material, ready to work with people after class.
Very nice and enthusiastic and never makes the lectures boring, fun and educational group activities, truly great professor
George Kapelos is what happens when you stay in academia forever and never go into practice. I guess his devious plan is to keep all his students from going into practice by limiting them to hand drawings. Thanks a lot, George, I'm sure I'll get hired when they see my portfolio full of sketches you tech-illiterate man.
This man is not suitable to be a studio master. He is the opposite of a good professor for studio. He limits students' potential by restricting submission formats, and specific graphic requirements that HE and ONLY HE wants when most of the other studio runs so much better. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice man, but just not fit for studio master.
George for studio was challenging and very demanding. Did not give much feedback but consistently tells you that your work needs to be elevated. Despite this he is very nice and will help you get through your project.
George's passion is very evident in his lectures. If you have a positive mentality and are willing to put in the effort, you will get an invaluable learning experience. He is a genuine person that wants to see his students succeed; he once requested to contact me by phone to discuss a late assignment due to illness and was extremely understanding!
