I took this class as an easy liberal. not as easy as i thought. she goes through the slides like rapid fire and does fill in the blank which sucks because you dont have time to pay attention to anything else because youre filling in the blanks. dont take this course if you know nothing about bio
She is a very hard marker and makes the course unnecessarily hard considering it's for non-Biology students. Her assignment outlines do not provide templates nor clear instructions on how she expects the assignments to be handed in. She is very picky and doesn't provide clear nor constructive feedback to do better in the next assignments.
Very passionate and knowledgeable. She uses many examples in her lectures to help explain a topic. PDFs of lecture provided, but you need to fill in the blanks. Course may be a bit difficult for someone who didn't take biology in hs, but easy for those who did. Exams were fairly straightforward and reflected everything that was taught during class.
Biology of a Living City is good with her. There are no readings assigned, so the entire course is based on lectures. Concepts are pretty easy, but it can be a lot of information. She is a very knowledgable teacher, and you can tell she's passionate about what she teaches. But tests can look at the smallest details from the lecture.
Very passionate and knowledgeable. The exams were hard and although she provides an "optional" textbook, i think it would've been very beneficial to have, as she doesnt post slides. Assignments however were SO easy and make up for the bad test score. She is very strict about assignment instructions, just follow them thoroughly, and youll get 90+%
Goes through slides way too quickly, exams do not reflect lecture discussion, and she is extremely rigid.
Maria is a great professor, she knows and is passionate about what she is teaching. course load are okay, a bit of biology foundation would be great since some of them are reviews.
She knows her stuff, but she's not an easy grader. Concepts are simple! but the exams are still pretty tough. The exams are all multiple choice but the questions are all very long and detailed; a lot of simple questions made complicated and tedious for nothing.
She's a great prof that cares about her students. Course is not difficult but it does require studying. I would highly recommend for a good lower liberal.
- She goes through slides at rapid fire - Course says you don't need prior Bio knowledge, however I disagree after taking it - Talks very fast in most lectures, isn't clear as to what will be on exams - Very hard marker - She's friendly, but I wouldn't take this class unless you have a background in biology
