Everyone writing poor reviews is just mad because they had to write in a writing class. ummmmmm if you dont like writing, Jean Mason is not the prof for you. I got an A. Only went to class half the time. I would make sure to spend time writing and revising the feedback she gave me. Her classes are great and she ABSOLUTELY knows her stuff. Simple A
Jean was a great prof! She gives amazing and specific feedback and criteria for her assignments and really helps you perfect your work. Though the class material was dry and lectures were sort of useless, she marks for attendance and it is an easy 10%. Follow the criteria and listen to her feedback and you will get a great mark!
She provides amazing feedback and makes you really work for your mark.
She is a very hard marker who rarely gives out A's, but she's very knowledgable and provides great feedback most of the time. However, most of her lectures are a waste of time with useless, random presentations and short activities. People just surf the web or leave her class during the break.
Loved her! She may seem strict and a hard marker at first but overall she gives exceptional feedback on assignments and really wants you to do well. I really liked this course and would recommend!
Serious insecurity issues. You can tell by the way she has to boast about herself in class. She never gives out A's because she believes there is no such thing as perfect. Even asked her in class to produce an A+ example and she couldn't . Her exam has nothing to do with what concept she teaches. It's More like a trivial pursuit game.
Avoid her class. It was a waste of time and money.
A huge waste of your money, time and intellect. While I think communication classes are essential for success, this class does not provide any measurable benefit to the student. Mason for hours about matters that do not matter. By the third class, every student brought a laptop to class to surf the net...unfortunately attendance counts for 30%.
At first I was very skeptical about Prof Mason and the class in general but after a few weeks this turned out to be the class that I wanted to go to. She is very passionate about what she is teaching and loves to hear feedback from the class. Like most communications courses you are marked pretty strictly but with effort you can still get a goodmar
