Michal Conford taught me film production in fourth year. He not only has a great eye for script development and story telling, but he is kind, caring, and supportive of his students. He only wants the best out of you, and will guide you through the creative process with patience and understanding. Trust his advice- you'll be happy you did.
Michael is a very sleazy type. He is envious, lazy and destructive. His taste in films is rather limited and tends to be low-brow, which makes him a very difficult professor. Very weak in understanding the technological aspects of the film-making. Don't expect to learn much from him.
Not a very good prof at all. Takes control of his students' films. Thinks of himself as a film guru with unlimited knowledge. Has no respect for students' creativity. If he doesn't like the idea then you're not doing it.
the previous posters must be in conford's immediate family. this guy defines 'those who can't do, teach'. take a look at his previous work: Ice Planet. ha. what a joke. his criticism is rarely constructive, he is easily annoyed, and very pompous. Though you can't expect too much from a professor in a program this poorly constructed, anyway.
Michal is the school at image arts. In four years he has become head of the department and tenure. This usually takes up to ten years if you are exceptional. Michal wants you to succeed and will work with you to make your films better. Start a dialogue early and your film/career will benefit from it.
One of my favorite profs- able to give great constructive criticism. I often went to him for advice about different projects and always trusted his opinion.
This is a demanding program and he showed a great deal of empathy for what we were going through. As hard as it is to hear his criticism is usually right (even if that means starting over).
You know when you're struggling with a script or a cut and like it's almost there but you can't put your finger on what exactly isn't working? Michal has an uncanny knack for this, his suggestions work and his criticism is fair- he wants to help you make a great film. He's also extremely kind & supportive, a great teacher all-around.
class is very boring. Does not provide any helpful criticism of our work.
Didn't feel he contributed much to the course, probably more the curriculem's fault than his own...very nice guy.
