He's a great professor and very helpful and caring. He does a lot of practice with the students in class to make sure they learn. If he were the SPN 301 prof this year, I'd take it without hesitation.
Review the preterit and imperfect tenses and subjunctive from SPN301 before starting SPN401. Read some books in Spanish to do well in composition. He covered all material from SPN401 and covered the extra material. He encourages students to explore more Hispanic culture when studying for SPN401. The workload is a transition for SPN501.
Overall, pretty good prof, although I did find myself often a bit lost in the lectures and had to do a lot of studying outside of class to be prepared for the tests. The tests can be a bit difficult, not in their material, but in the way that the instructions are worded. The instructions are often a bit unclear, making it harder to excel.
He didn't provide much extra practice for this course, unlike 201. He does give helpful feedback during and after the mini-drama component of the course. More independent work than 201. It's recommended to read some Spanish material (webpages or books) to apply what you learned. It's required that you know the material from 101 & 201 by memory.
Extremely helpful during the lectures. He clarifies some concepts and concerns students had as well provided extra practice outside of the textbook. Speak loud and clear for the professor to hear you since the pronunciation of some Spanish words are similar to other Spanish words. He gave us a sneak peak of some material in 301 near the end.
He was my favourite prof! His tests were actually based on what he taught. The textbook was super helpful, there is a free pdf version online. I would recommend attending classes because he taught very well and would help you if you were stuck. Best course for an easy mark. Make sure to go through his examples!
I loved my Spanish class with him! He took the time to ensure that everyone understood the course content and would always answer questions clearly and explain things differently to make sure you understand! He also gives you homework that is directly linked to class material and good reviews for you to improve! Highly suggest him!
Among the best professors out there. Very respected and caring, simple lectures, simple tests, as long as you do your revision and work enough, you are good. Protect him at all costs, he is a hidden gem in this institution. One of the only professors that I've met who genuinely cares and loves all of his students.
He is a great professor and really cares about the students! Tests are pretty easy. You will likely get a good mark :)
Participation was worth 10% of the final grade and he called on people to answer questions in class. Tests and exam were relatively reasonable. He is open to answering questions and is a nice professor.
