Half of the class is taught by the students themselves and when Jean chimes in it's usually very harsh. Does not give good feedback and literally reads off a piece of paper for 3 hours. Do not be fooled by the name!
Prof is extremely biased and entitled. Is only concerned with their opinions and is not favourable to students. Will not provide extensions even on reasonable grounds. Can make any fun topic become boring and backwards.
She is very biased about her own opinions and hates being bothered about anything. If you ask her any questions she's very short and annoyed and has clear favorites!
An excellent professor with a great passion and knowledge for the material. She inspires rigorous research and writing. Really enjoyed the class and the assignments.
*Literally* sits at the front reading her lecture off her papers. Completely unacceptable. Very boring on a toping (reading television) that could have been so fun and interactive and lively. Also has problems with modern software. Nice person - quirky.
Introduction to Film Studies: Lectures can be very boring, subject matter covered is fairly simple. Quizzes are extremely short (10 questions). AttendanceParticipation is necessary. The less you know about film theory the better this class will be for you. Textbook was used only for readings done outside of class (for material covered in class).
The content was clearly presented but I found her a little dry. She went into long wordy speeches and kind of just threw the information out there. It wasn't easy to identify what point she was getting to sometimes. Loved her approach to quizzes and papers. Fair grader
Decent prof. Paper instructions clear. Lectures are a bit boring, but these rudimentary film theory things must be covered anyways.
Decent proffessor. She knows a lot about film theory and history but doesn't do a great job of creating interest in the subject. Her voice makes me fall asleep
Theory is a mandatory course - many students don't want to be there and neither does Jean. She picked films that film academics like, but then didn't stick around to watch them with the class - put on the DVD and left. I get that she's seen the films before, but doing that showed how much she cared to be there. Ryerson has much better theory profs.
