Yes, she is a tough grader, but it's not the point. When I enrolled into this advanced French class, I was ready to work as much as possible to get KNOWLEDGE, not just a mark! Believe me, I learnt a lot. You just have to work really hard, and you'll get both - knowledge and a good mark.
She is very disrespectful, especially to younger students. Each time one of us younger students went up, she'd bite our heads of and embarrass us in front of the class. One girl dropped the class, the other barely ever showed up, and class total was half by the end of the semester. Being a night course, it was already small, but it ended with 7.
I had her for two classes. Now I make certain that when she is listed as a prof that I drop the class. She has no concept on how to teach and zero people skills.
If you have her, don't even go to class. You won't miss anything. All she does is tell you to do exercises from the text book. She doesn't teach anything. She just sits there, drinking her Coke Zero. Worst prof ever. She's a disgrace to the French language.
She speaks really fast and laughs at her own jokes... she's generally the only one laughing though because no one understands her. She doesn't really "teach" grammar- she just flies through her websites. If you ask a question she mocks you for asking such a stupid question and becomes defensive. She never gives you clear answer either.
Her lessons consist of her plunging at breakneck speed through complicated grammar, speaking only in French, followed by doing your homework exercises in class (before they are due) and then listening to presentations (where she monopolizes 75% of the discussion time afterwards with her own opinions.
if you have the choice to take French with STEPHANE VERON- do it immediately. He is 100 times better. Being in Henriette's class makes me want to die. She's really annoying and it is not a fun class.
Talk too fast, not willing to help students
This class is for those who are interested in French. The prof is intelligent and encourages debate.
I hope I never have this instructor again. Very difficult to understand as she speaks rapidly. Doesn't really understand the curriculum as far as I can tell--does she even know what level the class is? She makes an easy course more difficult than it has to be. Didn't help me even after I asked!
