This course was really not as difficult as the reviews reflect. The workload is similar to any other course taken through the Chang school and the content is very interesting. The final essay questions are generalized and if you have a good understanding of the main themes you will not struggle with writing the paper.

One of the hardest classes I've taken in my undergrad. I took this as an elective course... Required a lot of time and effort to do only decently on the papers. I put more effort into my essays than any other class and still only barely got 80s. Responds quickly to emails and gives good feedback. Follows the rubric to mark.

Take some caution by taking the class with this professor. Lots of essays, the marking is based on some subjective opinion. Very tough grader. Even though I have received an A, the amount of work that was put is just insane for liberal course credit. Expectation as you completed a history major. Don't recommend this prof unless you have time.

Definitely one of the worst professors I've had. And trust me, that says a lot. He doesn't reply to emails very quickly, he rarely gives significant feedback, and will usually differ from the question you ask. I don't reccomend his class. The most you'll get with a lot of hard work is a B.

The amount of stress this class caused is incredible. I didn't listen to the bad reviews on here cause I was like "oh these guys are probably just complaining about nothing". I literally had a 3.99 GPA before this course but not anymore after it. Essay writing has always been my strong suit but he is an impossible marker. SWITCH OUT OF THIS CLASS.

Avoid this prof at all costs, it will literally cost you. He is by far the hardest marker for such an insignificant course. This is an elective course and should not be this hard. he gave me a mark for 8% on the final writing part. which is ridiculous considering the amount I preparedand studied.

I don't like history AT ALL and I thought this course would involve watching spy movies from pre-war to modern times, but I was wrong. The modules are interesting though. He responds to emails quickly and he takes his time to understand what you're trying to say for your essay. Not THAT hard, but it requires some effort. Good luck!
