I have a love-hate relationship with Bob. At times it does feel like he enjoys seeing students do poorly in his class but other times he is a very humorous and adorable prof. His course is difficult. He words things horribly and purposefully confuses you on exams and quizzes. BUT, he is genuinely a kind soul (for the most part).
a lot of people will say some very negative things about bob but he's really not that bad. he hand writes notes live for the class instead of slides (not posted) if you put the work in you will succeed. he does follow the usual prof reading off the posted slides style of lecture. attend lectures and seminars, take notes and ask questions
Textbook is required, which he rarely uses it, but included on tests. 3 tests weighing 30/30/40 with a bonus 10% group assignment (he marks super hard). Go to classes as he hand writes lessons on a projector (does not post). Go to office hours and ask questions! STUDY HARD and have a group to review with. If you actually do the work, you will pass.
DON'T TAKE HIM, rather take online or do at summer!!! He mark very hard, questions in test is not much relative to the lecture. He won't post any ppt only handwriting (but don't post too). And he ask us to buy the textbook, but he said if the textbook goes against what he said, follow what he said because he is the one making questions!!!
this course got me feeling crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert was a nice person but he did not teach it at all throughout the semester, even though many students struggled throughout.
I mean what does it tell you when the majority of your students are struggling throughout the entire course and even fail the final exam. Despite trying to get extra help during office hours, he would say one thing during office hours then something different when grading your paper. Just not a good professor. AVOID IF YOU CAN.
Overall a really great professor who's helpful and is willing to to support you if you seek the support. Only downfall of this class is the fact that you're graded on 3 tests + 1 small group project, personally I have a very hard time with multiple choice tests so I wasn't as successful. If you are the same I recommend the online CHANG school alt
Attendance is not taken, but participation is necessary because there are no slides and all his notes are on paper. He is very nice and good at explaining course material and is clear about what will be on the test and how to study. He will also allow you to go over previous tests and find out what questions you got wrong and explain them to you.
if you attend the seminar and ASK QUESTIONS, attend the actual lecture, and do the readings this course is not hard. The exams are very straightforward the majority of lecture material and very little of the textbook. He does not and will NOT use a microphone so sit very close if you want a good grade. He's such a sweet heart who cares if you care
