I think its great how she used many real life examples, especially from her own work in lectures to make it more interesting. I learned a lot from the Advanced FST. The midterm was a killer in regard to lecture questions, the lab questions were great though.
no back tracking on all exams and predominately asks calculation questions. the final exam was 2 hours even though it should've been 3. she keeps all the long answer questions with the most marks towards the end of the exam which is not fair at all. barley responds to emails. 1/10 only cause she explains material clearly.
Tests make no sense. She lists numerous readings and says everything is testable. However, she tends to ask mostly lab calculations over content questions. Also, she'll ask 10 of the same calc questions (just with different numbers). If you don't know how to do it the first time, you're screwed for the next 9 questions. 0 feedback on tests too.
She is not a good professor and doesn't know her own content. Some of her questions are confusing and she doesn't explain much when students ask her. I ask her a question "What kind of apple juice are you mentioning? From the supermarket or homemade?", she responds "What are you assuming?"Overall, she is old and confused and please avoid having her
The class is entirely online so you're essentially teaching yourself. Although the content of the course is not necessarily difficult, there is a lot of it. The grade breakdown consists of 2 tests, a final, and homework completion. The first 2 tests I found to be fair, but the final's questions were oddly specific and not like the previous tests.
Other tips: FOCUS on the chapter about the menu for the midterm. Also, make sure you know the section of the Long term care homes act (LTCHA) that is relevant to the menu. The exam is NOT cumulative - only tests on lecture material covered after the midterm. The menu assignment for the lab is easy but tedious - pay attention to detail!
Very nice prof, but her lectures are pointless (I only attended 2 lectures). Use the powerpoints to guide your textbook readings (i.e., don't read it if it isn't on the slides). The advanced fst test is an easy 100%; however, make sure you know specific temperatures, etc. Midterm/exam was short-answer, therefore you must know everything in detail!
The mark was made up of 2 tests, homework on MasteringNutrition and the final exam. Reading the whole textbook was important, however, the PowerPoints were a good summary of the main points so I mainly used those to review. Tests and the exam were fairly easy, easier than the homework. Homework was just for completion marks, easy 15% of the mark.
I found her case study style exams to be difficult because I almost didn't know what kind of answer she wanted - some questions perhaps should have been worded better to help guide students to what it was clearly asking. She's very witty and her lectures are a must because she mentions things in class that's not on the slides that are important.
Took this as an online course and it was pretty easy. The tests were mostly based off her power points so just from that you could get at least an 80%. This was probably the easiest course during my semester.
