She isn't bad, but she isn't great either. Her exams and midterm were not hard, however she is not a great professor at teaching. The slides are good to study from, along the tutorials if you have access from. I think you will have a better time doing this couse in the summer.
She aight but she get an extra point bc her fits tuff asl
Dr. Zhao is very nice. you can tell she has an aversion to bubs. The first few lectures were incomprehensible, but the remaining lectures on the actual course content were very understandable. She would answer any questions as well. The exams were fair if not even easy. She lowkey has aura because she doesn't really care, that's lowkey tuff icl.
Solid prof. Even awesome if compared to other unbearable ele profs
I dropped this course after predicting that Lian Zhao would destroy everyone for the final exam. Turns out, she did. Took the last chopper out of 'nam for this course. Avoid.
I may be biased because I like the course material, but I enjoyed Professor Zhao's class. Her explanations of concepts and steps during in-class example questions helped me more than the textbook or slides. That does mean that the best experience of the class is in-lecture only, on the whiteboard, not posted online, so attending is important.
Wrote final exam 745. What in the world is she thinking. half the people just gave up part way through and turned in mostly blank exams. Test Qs were light years beyond lecture or assigned Qs. Those of us left at the end could only laugh. Gonna need like a 40% curve or everyone's going to fail. Thank God she isn't teaching 815 in winter.
Not a good teacher. Lectures do nothing to prep you; nothing about her teaching will prepare you. She could be replaced by the D2L page. HOW TO SUCCEED: 1) get past MTs; she's been recycling Qs and will never stop. Do as many as you can. 2) Memorize tutorial Qs (don't do book questions); all test Qs are based on memorizing those processes.
I see many negative reviews for Lian Zhao, but I believe these are unfounded. She teaches concisely and understandably and often goes through the solutions for questions step-by-step. She does reviews before midterms and exams and gives participation marks.
Lian Zhao can be fun to learn from - the way she does her problems step-by-step. But god, she needs to bless students with more marks. She is generally of the disposition that low-grades given by her means that the student did not put in enough effort. She wants answers done her way. The course definitely had some parts which were not clear.
