He throws a bunch of info at you for three hours, and there aren't any slides with the information for studying. He doesn't post the slideshows with the art pieces he uses for copyright reasons. If you can't take notes at light speed, prepare to be lost. He only gives three assignments, so if you tank on one, you fail the class. Also, he's rude.
He's a solid teacher if you're interested in the topic. But as someone who doesn't care much for art history, his 3h long lectures were tiring and I didn't pay attention much. He is a funny teacher and in that aspect is very entertaining. Make sure to attend every class and pay attention! Graded on a quiz, an essay, and a final exam!
Prof. Cameron is an expert in art history, and shares his knowledge with a little bit of humour. In this class, you get what you give. If you put in the effort to pay attention and learn the history, you'll receive a commensurate grade.
While he can sometimes go on tangents that are irrelevant to the material and repeats himself many times he is a good lecturer and I was able to stay engaged for the full 3 hours. You are only marked on 3 things, but they are very easy. 1 Test, 1 Exam (all multiple choice), and 1 1200 word essay. Just show up, take notes and it's an easy A.
Prof Cameron is extremely knowledgeable. If you're interested in history, art, or architecture, you may enjoy this class. But it's v lecture heavy! If you miss a class, it's hard to catch up. Also, when he says something might be on the exam: take note of it, and study it later! Not too hard if you show up and study. 3 grades: midterm, essay, exam
Iain is information, but outdated. Be prepared to sit and be talked at for three hours straight through a list of facts. Do not miss class, he doesn't answer emails or supply you with notes. There are only 3 tasks making up your entire grade and you do not know where you stand in his class as he takes a long time to mark.
He is extremely critical to students' work and is not afraid to nitpick it excessively (to the point where it is kind of mean) it in front of other students if not to his standard. I don't think he is a bad person but he definitely doesn't show his students' work respect if its not how he would do it.
He knows what he's talking about it and cares but he needs to streamline his lectures. They go on and on and he needs to SUMMARIZE PLEASE. We don't need to know everything that's ever happened to Van Gogh and the story behind every painting he's ever done. He had 200 slide presentations, that's a sign that you need to summarize more please my man
Nice prof, but the course is pretty dull (in my opinion). He loves what he teaches and it shows. As a prof, he's a good choice. If you're not into learning about photography though, then this course isn't for you.
Really interesting lectures, however, they are very dense and can be a lot. He clearly cares about the subject and his students. Make sure to pay attention (goes very quick and doesn't have much on the slides), and do the discussion posts. Overall, great prof!
